On August 17th, 2024, the AYLUS Orlando branch continued its commitment to promoting literacy and education by hosting a community book collection and fundraiser event at 1454 Twin Leaf Lane. This event was a crucial part of our ongoing efforts to support Tito Peter’s Free Public Library in Lipa City, Batangas, Philippines, which has recently struggled with a shortage of books and educational materials. The day began with participants receiving anonymous donations from generous local students. These contributions, which included a wide variety of books, were essential to our goal of providing valuable resources to those in need. The team then took to the streets, walking around the neighborhood to distribute flyers and raise awareness about the book drive. This outreach effort was vital in informing the community about our mission and encouraging further donations. Following the neighborhood walk, the team visited the community pool to strategically place donation boxes. These boxes were positioned in high-traffic areas to maximize visibility and encourage residents to contribute to the cause. The day’s activities concluded with participants carefully loading all the collected books into their car for transport. The donations will be sorted and prepared for shipment, ensuring they reach the library and make a meaningful impact.
